Twitter Tip: Whom To Follow

If you are quite new to Twitter and are looking for followers you obviously want them to follow you back. You also don’t want to waste your time following someone who doesn’t reciprocate and later you would unfollow them. This is because Twitter only allows a certain number of followers that don’t follow you back. Once you have exceeded that limit you cannot follow anyone. The problem is you cannot predict with 100% accuracy who would follow you back. You can, however, increase the probability of them following you back. Here’s how:

1. Define your purpose in Twitter. Are you selling a product? A service? Or do you just want to communicate your thoughts to a certain audience?

2. Define your target audience. Once you have established your purpose, you can then define your target audience. If you provide your services as a song writer then you probably want to follow people from the music industry who would follow you back.

3. Follow ordinary accounts to get more followers. Do your homework. Most accounts that are verified are the top people in their respective industries. And most of them have a huge following but they follow only a few. So unless you gave something very important to them it us best to follow regular accounts.

4. Find something to offer. This is self explanatory. Having something to offer provides value to your Twitter account. And this means more people – and businesses – will probably follow you.

Be sure to read Twitter’s terms and conditions and work around them. If you are a tech company, for example, it’s best to tweet Tech tips and just mention what your company does on your profile.

Personality Quiz

De claris mulieribus

Personality quizzes online are proving to be quite popular. According to Google Trends, it’s now as popular as music quizzes and movie quizzes. And why not?

Prior to the internet, the only source where you take these personality quizzes is through a Psychologist or by buying textbooks on Psychology. You would be lucky if it has a short quiz.

Now that the internet is ubiquitous in western countries, it is easy to just search for these quizzes. Google gives you a plethora of websites that offer quizzes. And then you come up with websites such as this.

Most of the personality quizzes here are based, adapted or inspired by existing studies and experiments on personality. Although the content of these quizzes are based on real life, the grading is somewhat relegated to the entertainment aspect of the website – meaning, the grading is not scientifically sound. But rather, the grading would hopefully inspire you to pursue the truth about your personality. And this means going to other sources that can be of value.

Having said this, there are some quizzes here where the results can be spot on. And we shall leave it up to you which ones they are.

Best Smartphone 2016

The new year 2016 will usher in some exciting new technologies. And what better to greet the new year than to predict what will be the best smartphone for 2016.

Our verdict: Google’s Project Ara. It’s a lego like phone where you can swipe components. The possibilities are endless. Imagine if your Ara smartphone has a 12 megapixel camera and then along comes a 20 megapixel tehcnology for smartphone. No problem. Why buy a new phone when you can buy just the camera component, take out the old one and snap in the new one.

Or let’s say a longer lasting battery comes to the market. Easy peasy. Buy, swipe and use your powered smartphone.

What IBM did to the PC, Google is doing it for the smartphone. With PCs, you can change components in order to upgrade your hardware to give you the latest and the greatest. And soon, you will be able to do this with your smartphone.

In order for this to become popular Google needs to offer the phone at affordable prices. And because each Ara phone can have different components, it’s probable that there will be different Ara models with different price points. You can just buy the cheapest one and then upgrade gradually as you need it.

Best Friends Forever

It’s sad to find out that when you search for best friends in Google you get a business website about pets and not humans. And come to think about it, when someone mentions the phrase a man’s best friend it is usually associated with a dog. Why not a pumpkin like we did in our best friend quiz?

But being best friends forever requires hard work, patience, understanding and most of all love. These are the qualities, that when one posses, can establish friendships that can last a lifetime, or, forever. And these qualities can be acquired as long as one is determined to have personal growth. This means being able to know yourself and love yourself.

So what does a website that is busy on producing test and quizzes have to do with relationships? Like, how to be best friend forever? We have some quizzes that are based on psychology like the Narcissistic Quiz. Some quizzes are based on common sense such as the Crush Test and the Best Friend Test. And other quizzes in the future will be a combination of the above. Finding out about our relationship and the state of it seems to be a very popular online activity. And why not? Statistics show that we spend a lot of time on our phones, tablets, computers, internet and TV. But deep inside we are still social beings and find time to check our relationships.

The Best Friends Quiz in Google Play, for example, is one of the most popular quiz about friendship. And there are an overwhelming number of positive feedbacks.

Obviously, some quizzes are made for fun but all of them are definitely for just your entertainment. Do not let the results of the quizzes affect you at all. But rather see if you can use it as a spring board to find the truth.

The verdict: Tesla Model X SUV.

It’s officially in the market at the time of this writing. And with much interest in climate change based on the conference nations had in Paris, the focus on cars this coming 2016 would be its technology and if it is climate-change-friendly – or – is it electric.

The Tesla Model X SUV covers all of the above. Just take a look at its specs:

  • 90kWh battery pack
  • 400 km electric range
  • 5 star rating in safety
  • Automatic steering sensors
  • Powered by twin electric motors
  • 100 km/hr acceleration in 4.8s
  • Panoramic windshield
  • Automatic door sensors
  • 17 inch touch screen panel
  • Digital dashboard
  • Advance air filtration system

The 5 star safety ratings is impressive. When they smashed the vehicle into a pole, the pole was split in half with some denting in the vehicle. The air filter is considered a bioweapon because it can filter toxic fumes.

A Guide To Drones

(Last updated: December 26, 2015)

The popularity of drones is fast increasing. And because drones are capable of doing a lot of things such as delivering packages, snapping pictures, recording audio-visuals, etc., it is necessary to have drones registered. In the worst case a drone is a weapon; in its best case it is a lifesaver.

So how does one register a drone?

USA Registration

  1. Check if your drone qualifies for reistration. Most drones under $100 do not qualify. But it’s not the price tag that is looked at. It us the weight. Drones over .55 lbs. and less than 55 pounds need to be registered online.
  2. Drones equal and over 55 lbs. need to registered the traditional paper based system.
  3. The FAA is the governing body for registering drones. Go to this website
  4. As of this writing, registration fee is $5 for three years.
  5. US citizens and permanent residents require registration. For others please check existing laws and guidelines.
  6. After registration you will receive a certificate. You need to bring this or a digital copy with you everyone your drone is used. If you lend your drone to someone, they need to have a copy of the certificate as well.
  7. You need to write the registration number on your drone.
  8. Rules on flying: drone altitude should be less than 400 feet; flight restriction in populated areas such as airports, stadium, etc.
  9. Violation of rules can lead to hundreds of thousands of dollars fine to years in jail.
  10. Best rule of the thumb: be considerate of others as you would when you play paintball.

Canadian Registration

Canada has a flowchart by which you can follow if you own a drone.

In summary, always think safety first. Drones that weigh more than 35 kg need to be registered in Transport Canada.

You also need to respect the municipal, provincial, and territorial laws regarding trespassing and privacy plus the Criminal Code and Trespass Act.

Australian Certification

In Australia, drones are also known as RPA (Remotely Piloted Aircraft). If you own a drone with a certain weight, you need to be certified to fly one. The governing body is the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). As of this writing, new laws are being drafted so be sure to check their website for certification and compliance.

UK Operating Permission

It’s a bit tougher to own a drone in the UK. The governing body that oversees granting RPA Operating permission is the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The requirements to own and fly a drone are listed on their website.

As a quick summary, you need to be familiar with air regulations, demonstrate pilot competence and may need to get insurance.

Drone Regulations Summary

Because drones are a new technology, the laws keep changing all the time. Be sure to do more research in your jurisdiction prior to buying and operating a drone as there are serious implications if you violate these rules.

Use common sense and safety always comes first.
